Open Access Ambassadors (public area)

As today’s young researchers will be most affected by the upheavals of the scientific publication market we believe that it is time to raise more awareness for the ideas of Open Access and Open Science among this group. Additionally there is a general demand for an enlargement of the network of Open Access advocates within the Max Planck Society as well as for a stronger entrenchment of Open Access in the scientific community itself.

Students and early stage researchers from different countries and various fields demonstrated their high motivation and enthusiasm about Open Access at the first satellite conference during the Berlin 11 conference series last year in November. This unique satellite meeting reflected the great attentiveness and power of these early-career researchers as the next generation in the Open Access movement.

Inspired by this meeting the idea of a novel OA-campaign within the Max Planck Society was born: To strengthen the idea of Open Access within the community of young researchers we train early career researchers, who are sent as representatives from each Max-Planck-Institute to become OPEN ACCESS AMBASSADORS. They will then carry the message of Open Access further.
